Gold Nugget Tavern & Grille - Take Three!
Alright tonight for Karyn's birthday dinner we found ourselves once again at the new Nugget. This time the food was better, not quite as good as before the renovation but still a decent burger.
The service still needs some addressing. My brother with his two toddlers was not brought a kids menu till the waitress came to take our orders. A dessert that was essentially a microwaved brownie and a scoop of ice cream took almost 10 minutes to arrive-far too long for squirrely grommets.
But you don't go to the Nugget for the desserts or even the service...you go for the BURGERS! And finally they are starting to get dialed in. Gone are the stringy french fried onions ala green bean casserole replaced with proper greasy fried onions. The burger was a tad overcooked but the fat from the bacon and fried onions kept my burger moist and delicious; add a swab of mayonnaise to carry you through the dry patches and your in burger heaven.
So go out to the nugget, get an original nugget burger with fried onions and bacon and a side of mayonnaise. Start out with a Guinness and some onion rings-also back on the menu now.
Stop out an enjoy the nugget for what it once was, even if the new decor is lame and bland...but don't you dare order a cocktail or pasta...DON'T YOU DARE!
