Neat Fact- USI Wireless also sucks when it snows.

So I guess I am going to have to rent one of these ruckus modems from USI wireless internet because with out it their service just plain sucks. So now instead of being able to sit on my couch with the macbook and surf, I believe I will have to be hardwired into the ruckus modem. Unless of course I buy another wireless router in addition to the ruckus modem. Pure Malarchy I tell you, Hogwash!

Neat Facts:
USI Minneapolis Wifi wireless blows when it snows, if you don't rent or buy there modem.

USI wireless does not support Sony PSP.

USI wireless does not allow for multiple connections.
-you and the wife, son, daughter whomever both have computers...to bad. Go get yourself a router and buy our modem you mooch!

USI wireless constantly disconnects and steps into my browsing que.

So once again here I am on my trust t-mobile blackberry tethered modem. Tmobile when will you give me 3G so I can drop this joke of a wifi plan.

Don't bother!

The ruckus modem will only help you get sucky service, and send you to a "you are not connected to the internet" page one out of every ten times that you try to load a page.
You CAN hook the ruckus modem up to a wireless router from Radioshack or wherever, but then you just make crappy service available to more chumps.
Probably Qwest or Comcast are better options. (OUCH! It pains me to say that! I sooooo wanted USI to be awesome.)

i hate it too...

man...

wireless in mpls, great right? I get the modem, the password, i'm set right? no! my office is on the backside of the house, not facing a window or at least facing a "main street". too bad for me, the damn thing doesn't work and i'm an inch away to going back to cumcast. so angry some days, almost can't function, need working intraweb!!!

Wait until you try to get rid of them

If you think USI is bad while you have them, wait till you try to get rid of them. They continue to bill your credit card after you cancel, then when you call they insist you didn't cancel.

ruckus won't help - USI wireless just sucks

I'm on my second ruckus, because the first one they sent didn't work at all. The new one sucks too, but at least I get dial-up speed when it's working, which is about 30% of the time. Switching to Qwest soon.

The ruckus modem acts as a

The ruckus modem acts as a wireless bridge - your Macbook connects (either wired or wireless) to the ruckus modem and it connects to USI wireless node.

Two laptops on a Ruckus?

Any idea if the Ruckus modem can act as a router so that my wife and I can surf at the same time?

Dual Zone support (no router needed)

Yes if you have the MM2211-DZ. You have to download the latest firmware for the device, install it, and then go to the Wireless config menu under the ruckus interface (usually found by going to 192.168.1.1 in your browser).

There you will see a check box that says "Dual Zone." Once you check that box an additional section will appear in the same screen (once you click "Update"). This new section will allow you to create a separate SSID to allow you to connect to it with any number of PC's with wifi capabilities. USI claims they don't support dual zone but they're lying; it works for me.

Were you listening at all?

USI wireless DOESN'T support it. I highly doubt anyone there told you that it just flat didn't work. The fact of the matter is that if you enable this feature on the modem, you are most likely going to cut your bandwidth in HALF and then you'll most likely call them and cry about it, in which case, you changed your wireless modem settings and technically have voided your Terms of Service Agreement. Read it before you sign it. They don't have to help you at that point.

I am out....Audi 5000!

moved out the minne-apple....no more dealing with USI's crappy ass wireless!
