Children are not fashion accessories!

Image
Today I was thumbing through my wifes JCREW catalog; the usual preppy over priced attempted east coast/hampton summerline they've pimped for the last twenty years. Nothing really new, till I got to the CREWCUTS section....thats right folks JCREW now has a line for children.

Nothing truly suprising there either I guess, its a simple product line extension. Gap has them, Old Navy, etc... Frankly you'd be stupid not to have a childrens line. What flabbergasted me was one particular item.

The "Striped-Silk Posey Pouf Skirt"

What struck me was the price $328.00 f*cking smackers. For a cutesy skirt that your growing daughter will wear to one wedding and possibly a baby shower/ garden party. This is ridiculous....sure it might be cute, but its cute in a my grandmom sewed these poufs onto my mom's old skirt kind-of-way. Not in a my mom picked this out of a catalog cause it looked cute on child model and she wants me to be cuter than that skinny bitch from yoga's kid kind-of-way.

So all you yuppie parents lets quit using our children as fashion accessories or status symbols and start parenting and teaching them important issues and how to be better human beings...umm kay.....that would be great....Thanks!

If children aren't fashion

If children aren't fashion accessories, then why are teenagers having them? Don't they have 'baby bling' addon things for kids like they do for cellphones? Swear I saw them at the ear piercing pagoda.

WG and i have been talking about this

First, I know someone whose 2 year old owns Ugs. OK, I probably spelled that wrong, but only because I'm horrified by people who think it's OK to spend whackloads of cash on a pair of boots for a kid who is going to outgrow them in about 4 days. And here's a great footnote to that story: the kid lost the left boot pretty quickly.

I want to spray paint on the side of her house: Kids in other parts of the world don't own a single pair of shoes. Yeah, that's a bit long for graffiti but it would make me happy... ;)

Second, I was privy to a conversation this week in which someone else I know said that she and her husband were contemplating having a second child, but she didn't know, because her husband really wants to get a jag.

Please, stop spawning immediately, people.

Thanks for stopping by

It is sickening isn't it?

BTW if you have an OpenID you can log in here. OpenID is one-profile-to-rule-them-all kind of dealy bop.

Say what?

Okay, so why would anyone spend that much money on a skirt for a child? By the time you get it home, she may very well have out grown it. Sheesh!

oh yeah ...

that comment was from me ... good ol' Whiner Girl, btw.
